About Northcutt’s Greenlawn Nursery

Northcutt’s Greenlawn Nursery began in 1956 near Noble, Oklahoma. Don Northcutt had just completed his Master’s in Science degree with majors in Turf Management and Animal Husbandry. In 1960, the Northcutt’s purchased Norman Garden Center using it to market turf products. Following intensive research of soil types, quality and water availability, in 1962, 160 acres was purchased near Lexington, OK. The first sales from this location were recorded in 1963.

Tree production began in 1964, with the first of the plot being sold in 1968. Within 8 years, the acreage had increased to 926 and the property is currently 1067 acres. In 1978, the wholesale tree division began introducing large specimen trees and shrubs in the marketplace. We were selling and shipping products all over the continental United States.

Don Northcutt, owner and founder, passed away in January of 1988. His sons, Doug and Dave, stepped in and began running the company; both are graduates of Oklahoma State University, Doug in Landscape Architecture and Dave in Landscape Horticulture.

In addition to the nursery operation, Northcutt’s Brother’s Cattle Company, a cow/calf and stocker cattle operation was added to the business in 1991. This business continues to utilize land not suited for turf or tree production.

Northcutt’s Wholesale Nursery opened for business in November of 2003 in South Oklahoma City. The business is located ½ mile East of I-35, on 11 acres within a busy industrial district. Northcutt’s Wholesale Nursery markets trees, shrubs and landscaping supplies to those in the Landscaping trade within the Oklahoma City Metro and beyond.
